LB/SS Farming Safety
I have a survivor ele with ~540k exp. Because I don't own Factions or Gwen I have been doing the lb/ss farming in HM to get exp. I go with a party of 8 H/H. Sending them in first works great, except for one part. When I activate the shrine to spawn the margonite bosses, they all target me first. I recently had a close call. Is there any way I can make it so I'm not the target/don't take damage? Please don't tell me to bring a friend to activate them, that's not going to work for me.

No. the only way to activate the shrine is to be standing right next to it. there is no way to stop yourself from being targeted once everything spawns. the only way to stop being targeted is to use the shrine and haul ass outta there but that's still pretty tough to do due to bodyblocking and whatnot. you could just kill everything in the temple except the bosses. it would be less XP, but safer in the long run.

You could flag your h/h into the temple.
Leave the junundu, go outside of the temple for a safe distance, use [shadow of haste] and activate a shrine. As soon as you active the shrine, use [dash] and you'll be back to safety outside the temple while your h/h handle with the spawns. I know that the skilltags don't work atm, but you get the point. EDIT: Ugh, by the time I fully read your post I already forgot about the no factions/eotn part. Can't think of a safe way then that doesn't involve others. Why do only sins have skills that entirely break some game mechanic.. Last edited by Squishy ftw; Sep 20, 2008 at 08:03 PM // 20:03.. |

^Squishy, he doesn't own Factions. No sin cheating
Your best bet (IMO) would be to take a hero monk with Mark of Protection (do you have Prophecies?), force him out of the Junundu, then have him slap that on you while you activate the shrines and get the hell up out. Just thought of something else, you need a cover enchant for Mark of Protection since the necro boss has Corrupt Enchantment. Just bring some fast enchant like Shielding Hands to cover. as squishy said they only way to activate and get away fast enough is to use something like shadow of haste or maybe recall, aura of displacement etc. but seeing as you dont have faction this will not be possible. as for the suggestion from zel youll want to use a regen skill, or several, to counter the degen.

Those are pretty vulnerable, even with 3000 health. I would not risk my survivor for it. I've been in Wurm farming groups a lot and you usually die many times during the final boss battle.
I would suggest Dwarven Boxing for your Survivor title. |

Did you actually read the OP post? Do you have Dwarven boxing outside GWEN?
@ OP I would suggest to cap all possible safe elites when going for survivor mostly during special weekends and you can work on skill hunter at the same time. Unfortunately regarding bosses there is no good safe strategy but I would try flagging heroes close to the shrine and running away with wurm speed skill as soon as shrine is activated. |

Funnily enough, even before it was mentioned I was trying Mark of Protection. However, what I found was they would kill my monk in 2 seconds once they got out of the wurm, as they would always target non-wurm first it seems. So I ended up making them use Life Bond on me and Mark of Protection along with Protective Spirit on themselves.
This worked well, but what worked even better was activating the shrine while there were only 1-2 monoliths left. They wouldn't target me at all, and my scroll wouldn't run out. So I think I've got that figured out. As to skill hunting, the way I deal with not taking damage normally is to take Zhed Shadowhoof along. He brings Life Bond, Vital Blessing and Master of Magic along with whatever skills I think he should use. Combine that with dervish secondary and mystic regeneration and I'm pretty safe. Thanks for all the help. |

When i was doing some lb/ss runs on my necromancer there would always be people who simply mapped out of the area at the temple for what seemed like no reason, or when they completed there title/s.
I would just go with a group and if things become rough or looks like you are going to die just map out, nobody will think any less of you even if they do not know why you left the party and the lb/ss run can be complete easily with a party of 4 or more so they probably will not miss you. Or you could post for a partner in the pug section of these forums and tell em your situation i am sure they will understand... |

You can pump up your hp by re-equiping your armor with the hp bonus and by switching to a high hp/survival weapon set. You can reach 3,150 hp which in theory would make you a less priority target.
Can't think of any other way but tbh when I go with PuG's I rarely get targeted if I'm the one activating the shrine. |
